Yoann Richomme, skipper of the Imoca Paprec Arkéa, won the first edition of the solo transatlantic race "Le Retour à la base" this Saturday, after 9 days and 3 minutes of sailing. The return leg of the Transat Jacques Vabre, in which Yoann Richomme came 2nd in the double-handed race with Yann Eliés, lived up to all its promises. It provided a further demonstration of the level of performance of the skipper of the Imoca Paprec Arkéa and his team. This bodes well for the Vendée Globe 2024.

From the Bay of Fort-de-France to the Bay of Biscay, via the Azores archipelago, the 33 sailors taking part in the single-handed "Retour à la Base" race covered the Atlantic Ocean and its 3,463 nautical miles, motivated by this new sporting and technological challenge and the prospect of qualifying for the 2024 Vendée Globe.

In the end, Yoann Richomme, despite being a neophyte in the Imoca class, scored another prestigious victory in his career, positioning him as a serious contender for the podium in the 2024 Vendée Globe, the Paprec Arkéa team's main objective. This victory follows on from his 2nd place, double-handed with Yann Eliès, in the Transat Jacques Vabre. Over and above the victory, 'Le Retour à la base' has enabled the skipper and shore crew to acquire a sense of direction and automaticity, as well as gaining experience on a boat that was only launched last February.
