07/05/2024 - Yoann Richomme, at the helm of the Imoca Paprec Arkéa, crossed the finish line of The Transat CIC off New York yesterday evening, after 8 days, 6 hours and 53 minutes of racing. A feat considering the youth of the Paprec Arkéa project, rich in lessons, which allows us to approach the next stage with confidence and determination.

Yoann Richomme thus wins his 3rd race under the Paprec Arkéa colours (his 2nd in the IMOCA class) and adds another line to an already impressive list of victories, including two in the Solitaire du Figaro and the Route du Rhum.

Second last November in the Transat Jacques Vabre (double-handed with Yann Eliès) and winner (solo) of the transatlantic race back to France (Le Retour à la Base), before triumphing in The Transat, Richomme didn't take long to master his Paprec Arkéa monohull, which will be launched in February 2023. And after this latest victory, he is now clearly one of the favourites for the next Vendée Globe (start on November 10). For his first solo round-the-world race, the 40-year-old sailor from Fréjus has all the (marine) cards in his hand to score a masterstroke.

‘It's a crazy transatlantic race. It's a piece of history that I dreamed of taking part in. But it was also an intense transatlantic race, with one of the most competitive fleets there has ever been. I'm proud of this result for my team and for those around me. It's rich in symbols. I lived in the United States when I was young and it's quite something to arrive here by sea after a race like this.’
