Energy efficiency: Crédit Mutuel Arkéa takes action to reduce its footprint and optimise its consumption
18/07/2024
18/07/2024 - Nearly two years after the launch of its "energy sobriety plan", Crédit Mutuel Arkéa is continuing its commitment to reducing its energy consumption and is aiming to cut its energy consumption by 20% by the end of the year (compared with 2019) and by 30% by 2030.
Already a signatory of the EcoWatt charter and the sobriety charter for the tertiary sector , the Group has put in place a long-term approach to energy sobriety and has announced a 5.5% reduction in consumption in 2023 compared with 2022. This significant reduction will result in savings of more than 2 GWh and 300 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to the consumption of more than 300 homes.
In addition to reducing the electricity consumption of the group's digital facilities and property infrastructures, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa also aims to optimise its energy footprint by setting long-term targets in line with its status as a company with a mission and the objectives set out in its Transitions 2024 plan.
Once again this year, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa has stepped up its efforts with an ambitious action plan comprising some fifty concrete measures. These initiatives concern several hundred buildings and are deployed in both the real estate and digital fields:
⦁ Renovation of buildings and installation of low-energy lighting;
⦁ Replacing obsolete equipment and optimising office equipment, in particular through dedicated internal initiatives such as "Digital Clean'up";
⦁ Improving the energy efficiency of the Group's data centres;
⦁ Raising employees' awareness of eco-gestures through the introduction of dedicated schemes such as the "EcoFlex day" in certain Group entities. Under this initiative, employees are grouped together in the same workspaces to optimise building consumption.
"The results of the sobriety drive we have been pursuing for almost two years now demonstrate the strength and relevance of our approach. Nevertheless, in view of the challenges posed by the climate emergency, we still need to go further and set ourselves ambitious targets that also reflect our commitment as a company with a mission. We are fully aware of the importance of setting an example when it comes to helping companies improve their overall performance on a daily basis. This is our environmental and social responsibility as a cooperative group committed to its regions."
- Anne Le Goff, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa -
