Brest, May 26, 2025 - As part of the 2024 Universal Registration Document (URD), Crédit Mutuel Arkéa is unveiling its first sustainability report, prepared in accordance with the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive). The latter aims to harmonize non-financial data published by companies to make it more qualitative and comparable. For the cooperative banking group, this first exercise demonstrates its long-standing commitment to transitions and is fully in line with the momentum driven by its new strategic plan, "FAIRE 2030," presented in early 2025.

Transparently reporting on their environmental and social impacts, as well as on the opportunities and risks related to the environment and society, is essentially what the CSRD expects of companies. Far beyond a simple compliance exercise, sustainability reporting is a strategic tool that guides decisions and encourages the adaptation of business models to promote business sustainability.

As a committed local player, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa is part of this dynamic with a constantly reaffirmed commitment: to combine transparency, local roots, and continuous improvement to better support transitions in its local ecosystems and serve its stakeholders.

This is why the publication of this first report was the subject of extensive engagement within the group, with a specific methodological approach.

Material Issues

Based on the double materiality analysis, a cornerstone of the sustainability report, more than 40 impacts, risks, and opportunities (IROs) were identified as material, covering various environmental, social, and governance issues. Nine value chains corresponding to the Group's activities were also mapped.

In line with the Faire 2030 strategic plan, two key themes are priorities for the Group: water and biodiversity.

These issues will be the subject of dedicated strategies, consistent with the Sustainable Finance 2025/2030 roadmap, an integral part of Faire 2030. Work is already underway with all stakeholders to co-develop sustainable action plans.

A group biodiversity strategy, designed through workshops bringing together representatives from various entities and subsidiaries, is planned for adoption in 2025.

A policy to preserve water resources is currently being developed with the support of a committee of experts to better identify sectoral and regional issues. It will be adopted by 2026.

“The publication of this first sustainability report is the culmination of a major project for our group. At Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, we firmly believe in the need to combine the simplification of the directive with continued commitment to the CSRD’s ambitions. This report goes far beyond a regulatory obligation: it is a steering lever that allows us to adjust the company’s strategic trajectory in favor of the environmental and social transitions necessary to build a sustainable and desirable future for all.”

- Julien Carmona, Chairman of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa -

“This report is the result of a remarkable collective effort. Its development relied on the expertise and commitment of our internal teams, working closely with our stakeholders. It illustrates our commitment to continuous improvement, in line with our sustainable finance roadmap. Through this transparent approach, we are strengthening the credibility of our commitments and actively contributing to the fight against greenwashing.”

- Cédric Malengreau, Director of the General Secretariat and Institutional Communications of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa -
