Crédit Mutuel Arkéa signs the L'Autre Cercle LGBT+ commitment charter to strengthen its efforts to promote inclusion
01/07/2025
Following Pride Month, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa is taking a new step in its inclusion policy by signing the L'Autre Cercle LGBT+ commitment charter, a national benchmark for an inclusive professional environment for lesbian, gay, bi, and trans people. A mission-driven company since 2022, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa formalizes its commitment to ensuring equal rights for all its employees and fighting against all forms of discrimination through this charter. The signing took place this afternoon in the presence of Sophie Delannoy, Deputy Secretary General of L'Autre Cercle, Julien Carmona, Chairman of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, and Véronique Crouzier, Director of Dynamics & Human Relations (HRD) and member of the Group's Executive Committee.
A corporate approach that echoes a societal issue
While 71% of French people believe that businesses must play an active role in promoting the inclusion of LGBT+ people, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa's signing of the L'Autre Cercle LGBT+ Commitment Charter formalizes a concrete approach to inclusion.
Crédit Mutuel Arkéa thus aims to provide its employees with a structural response to the worrying figures revealed by L'Autre Cercle's annual barometer on the situation of LGBT+ people in the workplace:
- 46% fear coming out at work;
- 25% have been victims of assault within their organization;
- 70% of LGBT+ people in relationships deliberately omit to mention their partner's gender.
By becoming a signatory to the Autre Cercle LGBT+ Charter, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa is committed to developing and implementing a comprehensive medium-term action plan that includes:
- raising awareness among all employees;
- training managers;
- providing resources on LGBT+ issues;
- promoting internal initiatives on the topic.
A collective approach that is part of a broader vision of inclusion
The signing of the L’Autre Cercle charter marks a new milestone in Crédit Mutuel Arkéa's inclusion strategy. It is not an end in itself, but rather one concrete action among others, enriching a structured approach launched in 2023 and developed collectively with the Group's HR teams, Executive Committee, management, employees, and directors.
This inclusion strategy is based on a strong conviction: that diversity is a lever for collective performance and individual fulfillment. It aims to ensure that social issues—health, age, gender, sexual orientation, origins, family situation, or physical appearance—are fully considered within the company. The ambition is clear: to enable everyone to be their full selves at work, to free up their voices, and to sustainably change perceptions.
To achieve this ambition, which is central to the "Faire 2030" strategic plan, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa relies, beyond its HR teams, on a committed community of more than 300 Diversity Ambassadors. Spread across 20 embassies, these volunteer employees play a key role in implementing concrete actions on the ground.
Among recent initiatives, an embassy dedicated to LGBT+ issues has designed an awareness-raising workshop for employees. Currently in the testing phase, this educational tool will be gradually rolled out throughout the company.

“The company must be a space of safety, equality, and fulfillment. The signing of this charter marks a new step forward in bringing these values to life within Crédit Mutuel Arkéa. It is part of a structural action plan for inclusion that we have developed collaboratively, involving our employees, directors, and managers, to make inclusion a lasting reality at Crédit Mutuel Arkéa and, more broadly, within our company.”
Julien Carmona, Chairman of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa
“By signing L’Autre Cercle’s LGBT+ Commitment Charter today, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa is taking an important step forward. It’s a concrete tool to better welcome, support, and develop all its employees, regardless of their orientation or identity. It’s also, let’s be clear, a performance lever for the company. For L’Autre Cercle, this signature is symbolic on several levels: it’s the first company headquartered in Brittany to make this commitment. It sends a strong signal to the entire regional economic fabric of the Grand-Ouest region. Thanks to the Group’s territorial network, through Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne and Crédit Mutuel du Sud-Ouest, and the diversity of its nationally influential businesses, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa will help give these issues new and valuable visibility. And let this signing take place here, in Brest—a city located in Finistère, which some say It's an 'end of the earth,' but everyone knows it's a place where everything begins, making this moment even more powerful."
Sophie Delannoy, Deputy Secretary General of L'Autre Cercle
"Signing L'Autre Cercle's commitment charter concretely formalizes Crédit Mutuel Arkéa's desire to work towards the inclusion of LGBT+ people, but it is not an end in itself. It is at the heart of an ambitious, concrete, and measurable overall plan aimed at creating a professional environment in which each of our employees can be their fullest potential."
Véronique Crouzier, Director of Dynamics & Human Relations,
member of the Executive Committee of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa
