The Raison d'être (Purpose) is the deep meaning that a company such as Crédit Mutuel Arkéa gives to its businesses and activities and the way it defines its usefulness to society and the planet. Adopted in May 2020 by the group's General Meeting, Arkéa's Raison d'être is the fruit of collective reflection by directors, employees and representatives of the group's stakeholders: members, customers, suppliers, institutional partners, etc. Our Raison d'être is informed by the group's history, identity and values of respect, openness and boldness. It reflects what constitutes our cooperative and collaborative DNA: close relationships and territorial anchoring, responsibility in action, a culture of long term planning, innovation in the service of the realisation of clients' and partners' projects, inclusion and solidarity with all stakeholders... It is both a driving force for action and a source of inspiration for all our initiatives. This is reflected in the Transitions 2024 strategic plan.
Crédit Mutuel Arkéa has developed its Raison d'être in five commitments, which are the essential link between theoretical aspirations, practical implementation and the measurement of overall performance. These five commitments form the basis of its long-term strategy.
Commitment #1: Our decisions aim for a positive environmental and territorial impact
We orient our business model to act in favour of the environmental transition, the enhancement of the dynamism of local life and the accompaniment of all our members and customers towards sustainable and responsible progress.
Commitment #2: Support each of our stakeholders in their environmental transition
Through our financing businesses, we support our members, customers, partners and local stakeholders in their own environmental transition to mitigate and adapt to climate change and preserve our natural heritage. Our ambition is to help everyone, at their own pace, to take a virtuous step forward.
Commitment #3: "Develop territorial cooperation and commit to local vitality".
Our action is anchored in the real economy. We act in favour of maintaining and developing infrastructures and day-to-day services that promote local well-being: education, health, employment, transport, culture, etc. The solidarity measures implemented locally by our directors in the Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne and Crédit Mutuel du Sud-Ouest networks contribute fully to promoting this local economic and social dynamism.
Commitment #4: Cultivate a lasting relationship of trust with all our members and clients, from the most precarious to the most fragile
We aim for excellence in customer relations, whether physical or remote, by offering our members and customers high-quality, innovative services and by focusing on dialogue and benevolence. Our long-term support enables us to help their projects to emerge and grow. Without giving up on supporting the pioneers and entrepreneurs who will shape the economy of tomorrow, we pay particular attention to the most vulnerable in our day-to-day work.
Commitment #5: Encourage the commitment of our employees in the service of the collective interest
We strive to enhance the company's human capital by paying sincere attention to our 10,500 employees. We maintain human relations based on trust and fairness and offer diversified career paths to ensure professional and personal development. We believe that diversity and gender balance are the keys to long-term success.
