Flexible Buildings for Life and the City

Launched in June 2021, Arkéa Flex, a new subsidiary of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, was established through a joint venture with two real estate entrepreneurs, Didier Boulin and Laurent Martin. It is based on Flex, a patented design technique that enables the creation of flexible and scalable buildings while reducing the ecological footprint of real estate projects.

Adapting Housing to Life Paths

The technology behind Arkéa Flex relies on a system of modules (each ranging from 18 to 25 m2) that can be combined horizontally or vertically to create apartments, ranging from studios to T5 or more, depending on the preferences of private or institutional buyers at the time of purchase. Each module can accommodate various uses : bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, etc. By freely combining adjacent modules, individuals can create a housing solution tailored to their needs, budget, and current requirements. Subsequently, based on availability and life circumstances, the occupant of an Arkéa Flex apartment can reduce or expand their living space by selling, renting, or buying one or more modules. This process is easily achieved through simple partitioning work, all within a predefined legal framework.

Real Estate in the Era of Circular Economy

Arkéa Flex provides a flexible and sustainable solution for real estate developers, planners, social landlords, local authorities, private investors, and institutional stakeholders. The service includes a license for using the patent, technical and regulatory support for implementation, and commercial assistance for apartment sales. The solution is adaptable to all construction materials, whether wood or concrete, and is particularly suitable for off-site construction techniques, contributing to reducing the carbon footprint of an operation. Moreover, its model is easily replicable on the scale of a city that aims to have scalable and sustainable collective buildings for both families and businesses.
