An Endowment Fund is a philanthropic entity aimed at realizing or supporting other non-profit organizations in the achievement of a work or mission of general interest.
Origins and Mission
It was in the spring of 2023 that the Board of Directors of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa decided to create an endowment fund, called the Crédit Mutuel Arkéa Endowment Fund. After a testing period conducted in the last quarter of 2023, in 22 local branches of Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne and Crédit Mutuel du Sud-Ouest, the Crédit Mutuel Arkéa Endowment Fund was operationally launched in January 2024.

The objective of the Crédit Mutuel Arkéa Endowment Fund is to support and assist individuals in difficulty and non-profit organizations throughout France in culture, sports, heritage, health, education, integration, disability, food aid, etc. The Crédit Mutuel Arkéa Endowment Fund may thus offer financial support to individuals in case of life accidents or support charitable associations through financial or in-kind donations, such as donating computer equipment.
Why did we create this fund ?
The Endowment Fund of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa was created to strengthen and enrich the group's philanthropic and solidarity activities. This endowment fund therefore complements the solidarity initiatives carried out for many years by the Federations of Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne and Crédit Mutuel du Sud-Ouest.
How does it work in practice ?
The Endowment Fund of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa aims to offer strategic management of the cooperative banking group's solidarity engagement to ensure coherence at the local level, as well as on a national scale.
In line with the group's mission-driven objectives, the board of directors of the Endowment Fund, chaired by Sophie Violleau, President of Crédit Mutuel du Sud-Ouest and Vice-President of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, decides on the allocation of grants to support and make visible on-the-ground actions for societal and environmental transitions.
The Endowment Fund operates through a decentralized organization closely tied to local territories. Decisions are made by competent territorial committees, supported by local teams of Crédit Mutuel Arkéa. Local and regional committees ensure the allocation of assistance to associations and individuals in line with the commitments of local branches.
