24/05/2024 - Crédit Mutuel Arkéa has been a partner of the Breizh Biodiv foundation since its inception at the end of 2020. Launched by the Brittany Region, this foundation aims to mobilize local stakeholders on issues related to ecological transition through dedicated events and thematic calls for projects.

Crédit Mutuel Arkéa participated in the third edition of the regional meeting organized by the Breizh Biodiv foundation on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Brest.

Participation in a Conference with the Region and an IPCC Author :

Maëva Bourel, Head of the Sustainable Finance Department at the group and Mission Leader, spoke at a conference on the theme "Acting Against Climate Change and Biodiversity Loss," alongside Loïg Chesnais-Girard, President of the Brittany Region, and Valérie Masson-Delmotte, paleoclimatologist and author of the latest IPCC report.

This was an opportunity to revisit the strong links between environmental issues and economic development, particularly highlighting the roles played by financial and banking institutions in sustainable investment and energy renovation.

Several concrete examples demonstrated that transitioning the entire economic fabric towards more sustainable models represents a real opportunity for Brittany and its local stakeholders.

This transformation is a source of financial innovations and evolutions in our profession: the environmental dimension has even become the primary factor considered in some investments. Moreover, beyond the carbon footprint, which is not yet a given for all companies, it is the evolution of the carbon trajectory that we wish to support. We can almost talk about an enhanced banker, capable of guiding clients towards specific expertise on climate change issues and supporting the sustainable development of our entire economic fabric.”

Meetings Between Breton Stakeholders at Océanopolis in Support of Biodiversity :

This conference concluded a day rich in meetings and exchanges between companies, associations, and local authorities, aiming to enhance skills on environmental protection and turn it into a development opportunity for economic actors.

Additionally, several companies, some of which are supported by the group through its maritime sector, spoke at the event about integrating biodiversity preservation into their entire value chains: BL Evolution, Les bottes d’Anémone, La Belle Iloise, SemBreizh.

The event was held at Océanopolis, the aquarium and scientific culture center located in Brest (Finistère). Participants in the Breizh Biodiv regional meeting had the opportunity to visit the exhibition pavilion of this venue dedicated to the preservation and knowledge of the oceans, which is also supported by the Crédit Mutuel Arkéa Endowment Fund in its renovation project.
